THREE NEW SCHOLARS – THANKS TO BRUNCH BUNCH KID–TURNED–PHILANTHROPIST:

When Brunch Bunch Kid Alum Brandon – now a young professional -- bought a new condominium, he asked attendees at his housewarming party (in lieu of gifts) to help him support the efforts of The 11-10-02 Foundation. In turn, 11-10-02 took 100% of those funds -- plus an additional $1,000 from the Foundation's own existing funds – and created three new scholarships. With the funds in place, Brandon helped pick a high school near his new home. Administrators at that school then got the chance to select three hard working seniors who have now each received college scholarships from 11-10-02.
LUNCH MARKS TWO MILESTONES FOR THE 11-10-02 FOUNDATION

11-10-02's Founder, Greg Forbes Siegman, recently met with one of our new scholarship recipients, Kaimana, for brunch. The brunch marked two milestones in our 18 year history. Kaimana (& some of our other 2016 Scholars) are our first scholarship recipients born after the start of our Foundation. In other words, our Foundation is older than some of our new Scholars! Kaimana also holds a second special distinction. He is the first 11-10-02 Foundation Scholar chosen in Hawaii. While our organization has funded scholarships in dozens of states, this is the furthest our efforts have ever stretched from our home base.
11-10-02 FOUNDATION HELPS FATHER SET EXAMPLE FOR HIS CHILDREN

One of The 11-10-02 Foundation's First Literacy Scholars has a meaningful story behind his pursuit of a college degree. Mohamed wanted to show his children that he truly meant it when he talked about the importance of getting a degree. To set an inspiring example for them, Mohamed enrolled in school while continuing to work as a hotel doorman. This summer, he reached his goal & received his degree. A scholarship funded by 11-10-02 helped make it possible.
NEW SCHOLARS FROM BOTH COASTS & IN BETWEEN

11-10-02 expanded its efforts to more states toward the West -- funding two college scholarships in Montana for students who have a demonstrated interest in the environment. Our first three Scholars in Colorado were chosen as well. To choose these 5 new Scholars, we engaged in a two-step process. First, we selected nonprofits that work with students in those states. Then, we let those organizations choose the students whom they believe best fit our criteria. We also had more Scholars selected in Illinois and Massachusetts.
