PRIORITIES
The 11-10-02 Foundation has existed for over two decades. Nobody has ever accepted a salary to be part of our staff or Board. It is 100% volunteer-run. Our primary focus is to fund grants and scholarships. Here are the Qualities and Philosophies that we prioritize and value when carrying out those efforts and selecting the recipients of those grants and scholarships (and that we prioritize and value in general). In particular, it is impossible to overstate how much we care about promptness & people honoring commitments.
QUALITIES
1* People who respond promptly - without excuse or exception
2* People who are responsible & reliable, and do what they say they will do when they say they will do it
3*People who appreciate and value the time of others
4* People who don't procrastinate
5* People who persevere when facing obstacles
6* People who pay as much attention to 'small' details and commitments as they do to 'big' ones
7* People who are consistent, honest, authentic, and sincere
8* People who are kind, considerate, and friendly
9* People who are curious and who listen
10* People who work hard and take pride in their work ethic
PHILOSOPHIES
1* If we are potentially funding a grant or scholarship, those who would benefit from it (and those who work with the students who would benefit from it), should be even more eager, prompt & willing to sacrifice time on the nomination process than we are.
2* We are happy to know our Scholars as individuals and friends - not nameless, faceless beneficiaries - and we are happy to know those who are given the chance to nominate them. Similarly, we are happy to know the staff of the organizations who receive our grants as individuals and friends -- not nameless, faceless representatives of a beneficiary.
3* We are human beings who volunteer our time to do this. As long as we can choose who we support, we will choose people who appreciate that sacrifice and treat us with kindness and respect.
4* If we can only help a limited number of students, we want to help those who want to reflect well on us (and their schools, employers, family & themselves). If a student is kind & considerate at their part-time job and kind & considerate to their teachers and kind & considerate to our Foundation's volunteers -- but the student posts offensive or divisive or hateful or profane material online (or permits others to do so on their social media pages) -- that is not a student who reflects well on us, their school, their employers, their family or themselves.
