SECOND SCHOLARSHIP FOR STRAIGHT A STUDENT:
The 11-10-02 Foundation rarely gives a second scholarship to a Scholar. Natalie worked her way into a special exception. While also working a couple dozen hours a week at a job, she studied hard and received a 4.0 GPA for her freshman year of college. We are proud of Natalie's work ethic & happy to have her as an 11-10-02 Foundation Scholar... for the second time!

STUDENT SURPRISED WITH SCHOLARSHIP
AFTER BEST QUALITIES SHINE THROUGH

One day at work, Bri was mistreated by a customer. She handled the difficult situation with grace & composure. The next customer in line happened to be 11-10-02 Foundation Founder Greg Forbes Siegman. The moment struck a chord. It was a somewhat similar moment that he witnessed 20 years earlier that led him to start the mentoring program that led to the Foundation. Now as then, he decided to do something. He did not know Bri, but he said something to the customer so he stopped mistreating her. Later in the year, Greg was back at the store, and Bri happened to be there. To his surprise, even though months had passed, she immediately remembered him and expressed her gratitude for what he'd done. They talked at length. It turns out she worked at the store to help pay for her college education. A few days later, Greg returned to the store a third time – to surprise her with the news that he was part of The 11-10-02 Foundation, and its Board had approved a college scholarship for her in recognition of her work ethic, composure & gratitude – qualities that can help a young person reach their dreams. As the picture reflects, she was shocked by the news!

11-10-02 Chooses New 'Senior' Scholar:
The 11-10-02 Foundation decided to fund a new scholarship for a student who – in addition to meeting our Criteria/Priorities – also demonstrated a sincere & sustained commitment to senior citizens. J'Mal was identified as that Scholar. He is getting his MSW while also studying Gerontology. He has devoted much of his adult life to helping seniors. LETTERS FROM OUR SCHOLARS:
We have always tried our best to choose scholarship recipients who understand why it is so meaningful and respectful to stay in touch with those who help them fulfill their educational dreams. Even when the Scholars' messages are brief, we enjoy getting them. Here (to the right) is one of our recent favorites  – a message we received from Paola – one of our 2017 Scholars.
