BRUNCH BUNCH KID-TURNED-TEACHER TEAMS UP WITH FOUNDATION TO INVOLVE HIS STUDENTS IN PHILANTHROPY

Picture
In grade school, Colby joined our BrunchBunch.com Mentoring Program. When he finished high school, our foundation – The 11-10-02 Foundation - gave him a college scholarship. Now graduated and working as a school administrator, he wanted to be a young philanthropist, too. He also wanted to engage his students in the process. So, this past year, Colby launched a coin drive at school to benefit 11-10-02. By donating spare change, the kids were able to raise hundreds of dollars – a few nickels and dimes at a time. In turn, The 11-10-02 Foundation earmarked 100% of what was raised to fund a scholarship (and will be giving out an equal amount as a second scholarship via its own existing funds). This Spring, Colby and The 11-10-02 Foundation's founder, Greg Forbes Siegman, met with some of the students under consideration for the first scholarship.

MORE IN MASSACHUSETTS

Picture
The 11-10-02 Foundation has funded five more college scholarships in the Boston area. First Literacy – a highly respected nonprofit organization based there -- will once again be selecting the local students who receive these Boston-area scholars. In total, The 11-10-02 Foundation has now funded more than fifteen scholarships in the state of Massachusetts.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW

Picture
Brunch Bunch Kid Alums and 11-10-02 Foundation Grant & Scholarship Recipients continue to make their mark. Recent examples: Michael has accepted a position at a university on the West Coast. Jason received a promotion & is now a Vice President at his company. Crystal is interning at a clothing company in New York. Sir was nominated by an 11-10-02 Foundation Board Member for an opportunity with a well-known institute, and we're proud to say he was selected. Charles launched a successful business. Jimmy is running for public office in Wisconsin. Tynisha went back to school to get a masters in education with a principal certification. Uzziel participates in a program that engages new high school students in STEM-related activities & is running a marathon to raise money for a cancer-related cause. We are proud to see Brunch Bunch Kid Alums & 11-10-02 Foundation Scholars pursuing their dreams and doing their best to make a difference in the community
