AFTER GIVING OUT GRANTS
IN VIRGINIA & WEST VIRGINIA, THE 11-10-02 FOUNDATION GETS CLOSER TO FULFILLING GOAL In March 1997, three people went for milkshakes. That led to the start of a mentoring program, The Brunch Bunch. Seventy weeks later, The 11-10-02 Foundation began. At first, the organization was a tiny one run entirely by volunteers. We used cereal boxes as filing cabinets! Over two decades later, 11-10-02 remains both tiny and entirely volunteer run. Collectively, we have poured thousands & thousands of hours into the process. Along the way, we have set many goals, short-term and long-term. One of those goals was to fund at least one grant or scholarship in every state in the nation. Slowly but surely, as the years have gone by, we've gotten closer to fulfilling that dream. This winter, that progress continued with grants to nonprofits that help kids with financial need in Virginia & West Virginia. These grants will help them purchase school supplies, books & STEM-related supplies to use with the kids they support. As a result, 11-10-02 has now funded scholarships or grants in 47 states & Washington D.C. Thanks to everyone whose support has made these efforts possible. Thanks to you, we've come a long way from a few milkshakes! |
