Over the years, The 11-10-02 Foundation's Founder, Board & Volunteers have received thousands of fun, memorable, kind & grateful notes from the students who were in our Brunch Bunch Mentoring Program & who have received our grants & scholarships . We use this page to share a brief sample of those notes -- a chance for you to hear from Brunch Bunch Kids, 11-10-02 Foundation Scholars & Student Volunteers in their own words as they reflect on our mentoring program & scholarships &/or a Foundation event they attended. "I would like to thank The 11-10-02 Foundation for giving me the opportunity to pursue my dreams. I had never really seen a college education as something that would be part of my future and this foundation has literally helped make my dreams come true. I need to first and foremost give a very special shout out to....[my Foundation volunteer point of contact] ... [who] saw potential in me and was one of the few people who motivated me in my educational journey and inspired me to keep learning... Monday was a big day for me, as I started my first day as a college student and I have to say that I felt all types of emotions. [When I was notified about this scholarship], I never asked how much money [this scholarship was for], but after being told I was receiving $1,000 dollars, I was speechless. It may not seem much for some people but I am more than grateful. I've been working as a cashier in a grocery store for two years and it would literally take me 3 months to make this amount of money. I worked well over 40 hours a week as I finished my high school career and graduated. Thanks to this scholarship, I was able to pay my fall tuition and more importantly I am able to call myself a college student. Once again, thank you so much!" - PM

"This is truly a humbling experience to have been chosen for the 11-10-02 Foundation Scholarship [$2,500]. I am extremely excited and absolutely cannot wait to become a member of your community [of Scholars]! I also want to show my sincerest appreciation for what you do. Not only did you consider my [accomplishments in and out of school], you considered [my qualities] as a person, which is a completely brand new experience for me when applying for scholarships. I really enjoyed our conversation and am SO thankful and honored to have been chosen [for a scholarship]...To say "thank you" would be an understatement. I am incredibly humbled and blessed to experience grace in such a tangible way. Thank you to The 11-10-02 Foundation Board for being so gracious to see something in me that would allow me to make education that much more possible for me, as well as many others. "This email is to inform the board that I have received the law school scholarship in the amount of $1,500 from The 11-10-02 Foundation and I can confirm that the funds have appeared in my school account...I must tell you that I am absolutely inspired by the Foundation's history. It is an honor to be receiving this scholarship...Making a difference is what I strive to do. ... Also, I must take a moment again to express to the Board how grateful I am to have received this scholarship. It is quite an honor. I am truly inspired by the Foundation's story. "...I was introduced to those famous milkshakes. I was also blessed to receive a ($5,000) gift that can change my life and bring me many opportunities. A generous & honorable man found the way for me to change my dreams into a reality. A million thanks to [my volunteer point of contact at the Foundation] who took time from his busy life and was able to help me and others like me to prepare us for a future and allowing us to become prosperous citizens and later be able to return the favor by following his footsteps by helping others. "...What can I say? You've done it again! For the second straight year in a row, the Gala has managed to make me smile, laugh, sit on the end of my seat with anticipation, be proud, and even managed to make me cry - again. Even though I promised myself I wouldn't cry this year, I couldn't help myself.....Once again, I felt very privileged to be in attendance and even more privileged to, speak not once but twice at such an auspicious occasion...Also, at this time, I am renewing my promise from last year to be as involved as I can.....thanks for taking the time to have an interest in me, and in turn, sparking in me an interest in what you do and the Foundation... Both this year's Gala and last year's Gala can only be described in one word. MAGICAL! In no other place will there be so much suspense, so much surprise and so much happiness, all from a few simple milkshakes... And even when I become that big world renowned neurosurgeon, if my secretary says that Mr. Siegman is on the line, I will put everything aside to stop and chat with the man who had a hand in making my dream of going to college come true. I don't know if he knew it or not, but he is one of the people who inspired me to keep pushing for those scholarships and to not give up, even when it seemed like paying for my college education was going to be one step lower than impossible. I'll never, ever forget that... I enjoyed myself tremendously last night....It was wonderful and though I thought it would be difficult for 11-10-02 to top last year's spectacular job, they did so, several times over. Come to think of it, I really must have forgotten who I was dealing with for a split second. This year's was even better than last year's and I want you to know that I will be waiting, rather impatiently, for next year's Gala so that I can witness the magic, fantasy, wonder and surprise once again." - TN

"I am speechless. Tonight's [Gala] was incredible - such a unique experience - one that I will never forget. I feel that I have so much to say, but the words are not coming to me. I honestly did not know what to expect from this evening...but never in my wildest dreams did I expect what unfolded. Tonight was yet another amazing reminder of how much of an impact people make in each other's lives....I felt the impact of everything that 11-10-02 does. It was very powerful, and I was deeply moved...I guess the point that I want to get across is how much of an honor it has been to work with and be a part of this incredible Foundation... "The night [I received a $5,000 scholarship] was a night that I will never forget...I spoke to an engineer, business owners and former recipients of the scholarships....A feeling was present that night, it was a feeling where everybody simply wanted to interact with everybody. I had a lot of fun. I spoke to a past 11-10-02 Foundation Scholar, who was able to go to college because of the scholarship he received. It was great, and I will never forget, at the end of the Gala, all of those people walking to the milkshake shop in suits and dresses with people they didn't know but they felt compelled to get to know. "The feeling this gives me is unbelievable. I hope...everyone that [volunteers] with the Foundation knows what this means to me. I don't see money as an amount any more. I see it as the time I have to work. $1,000 is what I would make working for two months at my two part-time jobs. Even with this scholarship, I hope you know that I'll continue to keep working hard both at school and at my jobs to better stabilize what I'll pay for tuition. Thank you so much. "I would like to take this time and tell you how much I appreciate you for choosing me as a recipient for your $75 grant. To some, this may not seem like a hefty amount, but for a second year college student who can barely make ends meet with a part-time job, I can tell you that this gift means a lot. As a pre-med student, my preparation for said career path involves a plethora of science related courses in which the textbooks are rather expensive. With that being said, this grant will absolutely aid me in buying the rest of my books that my paycheck at work couldn't cover alone. I look at this opportunity as a catalyst in my education path and shall further encourage me to do my best in what I do because there are people who have faith in me and believe in me enough to gift me money to further push me in doing all I can.
