BRANDON ANNOUNCES PLAN TO CREATE SCHOLARSHIPS
In high school, Brandon was part of The 11-10-02 Foundation's Brunch Bunch Mentoring Porgram. Years later, as a young professional, when he bought a new condominium, he decided to use his housewarming party as a chance to team up with The 11-10-02 Foundation to make a difference. In lieu of housewarming gifts, he asked his friends and family to contribute to The 11-10-02 Foundation to fund the newly formed "The 11-10-02 Foundation Warner House Scholarship". He sent out the following note...
"On August 29, I'll be opening the doors of my new condo to my friends. I've decided to use the event as a platform to open a door for someone else, too. I'm proud to announce that I've established The 11-10-02 Foundation Warner House Scholarship. When I was a teenager, I was part of the Foundation's Brunch Bunch Mentoring Program. 15 years later, with your help, I'm paying it forward. In lieu of housewarming gifts, please make a donation ($10 & up) through this link to The 11-10-02 Foundation. 100% of our donations between now & September 30 will be used to fund a college scholarship for a student with financial need. In addition, The 11-10-02 Foundation is going to dollar-for-dollar match the first $1,000 we collectively donate. Thanks to them - and to you - for helping me fulfill this dream to help a young person fulfill their dream of an educated future." - Brandon |
BRANDON HOSTS HOUSEWARMING PARTY

THREE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE ESTABLISHED
As a result of his housewarming party and additional generous support from friends, family & colleagues, Brandon raised $2,300. Thanks to a $1,000 matching grant from The 11-10-02 Foundation (from its own existing funds), The 11-10-02 Foundation Warner House Scholarship Fund now totals $3,300. After consultation with Brandon, that amount will fund three $1,100 college scholarships.
STUDENT POOL SELECTED, SCHOLARSHIPS ANNOUNCED
With the scholarship funds in place, the next step is to decide who is eligible to receive the scholarships ("Student Candidate Pool"). With Brandon's approval, a Student Candidate Pool was identified. Specifically, a high school in Brandon's community has its own Mentoring program with approximately 30 students in the program. With Brandon's approval, it is decided these students will be the Candidate Pool for these donor-advised scholarships. Brandon and The 11-10-02 Foundation's Founder, Greg Forbes Siegman, visited the school, met with the Mentoring Program & their school's representative to share the exciting news -- the three scholarship recipients will come from among the 30 students in that school's Mentoring Program.
The school representatives -- the people who know the students best and interact with them on a regular basis -- will be responsible for choosing the recipients (based on specific criteria provided by The 11-10-02 Foundation). In general, the criteria includes excellent conduct & attendance records, satisfactory grades, financial need, and a clear sense that the students have maximized the opportunity provided by the school's Mentoring Program (and also have done their best to make a positive impact on both Mentors and other students who are in the Program). The three recipients will each receive $1,100 scholarships -- which will go toward their tuition &/or books at the community college, college or university where they enroll in the Fall of 2016.
SCHOLARS SELECTED & HONORED, SCHOLARSHIPS DISTRIBUTED
In May 2016, after having several months to evaluate the candidates, school officials selected the three students to receive the scholarships. The students were honored at the school's annual Awards Ceremony. Brandon attended the event to help celebrate the news & greet the Scholars. The scholarships were then distributed in full. Each of the three students received $1,100 scholarships from The 11-10-02 Foundation to help them pay for tuition or textbooks at the colleges where they are enrolling in the fall.

Here's a sample of the notes received from the three students after they were chosen by the school for these
11-10-02 Foundation scholarships: "With my utmost gratitude, I would like to thank you for selecting [students from my high school] to receive your scholarships and for personally receiving this incredible honor. The selection process was most gratifying as our consistent work ethic and engagement were rewarded by the people who saw proof of it everyday, our teachers." ** |
THANKS TO BRANDON, HIS FRIENDS, HIS FAMILY & OTHER DONORS WHO MADE THESE SCHOLARSHIPS POSSIBLE & CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 11-10-02 FOUNDATION WARNER HOUSE SCHOLARS
